About Us
Curriculum
St. Columba’s curriculum embraces the development of the whole child. Learning experiences include art, science, math, literature, language arts, music, dance and movement, nutrition, dramatic play, large and fine motor skills and cognitive skills, with an emphasis on Kindergarten readiness. Children are encouraged to listen, touch, smell, taste, and observe in the process of learning. St. Columba’s Preschool incorporates a religious curriculum with a hands-on developmental program based on a weekly theme. The theme is integrated into various parts of the curriculum.
Philosophy
St. Columba Preschool is a faith community of children, parents, and teachers working together to provide parochial education in the Catholic tradition. The mission of St. Columba Preschool is to provide high-quality education based on an integrated curriculum approach. Values encouraged in our classroom setting are derived from the Gospel. By providing a caring, nurturing environment, we seek to teach children about God’s love for them and their love for God. A sense of spirituality and a respect for themselves and others is fostered through unique classroom learning experiences.
Goals
- To contribute to the development of positive self-esteem, as well as encourage cooperation and interaction among children
- To provide opportunities for children to grow and explore.
- To promote the spiritual, emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development of each child.
- To provide Catholic values, a positive self-image, and a spirit of sharing through a cooperative relationship with our Preschool families.
- To help each child become a productive, healthy, and self-motivated individual.
