Mrs. Nicole Goncalves
Welcome to Second Grade! My name is Mrs. Goncalves and this is my 11th year of teaching second grade here at St. Columba. I was born and raised in San Diego and I am a product of Catholic education myself. This year is the preparation and reception of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
Some of the major topics we will be focusing on this year are the Seven Sacraments in Religion, mastering our addition and subtraction facts and regrouping in Math and parts of speech and sentence structure in Language Arts. Your child will also learn how to write a two-paragraph narrative including a logical sequence of events. In Reading, we will compare various stories by analyzing the characters, events, plots and settings. We will learn about the life cycle of plants and animals in Science and be able to apply map and global skills when locating continents and oceans in Social Studies.
I look forward to working with you to help this be a productive and successful year for your child. Your guidance and support is greatly appreciated to ensure a wonderful second grade year!
