Father, as we enter this season of Thanksgiving, help us to remember that You are the giver of all gifts. Let us praise and thank You always, and throughout our life give witness to Your compassionate love through Christ our Lord, Amen.
PRAYERS: We ask that you keep in prayer all our families and extended families who are experiencing difficult times. We also give thanks in prayer for all our many blessings.
THANK YOU: A very special thank you to Ms. Navarro for organizing our special Veterans Day Ceremony, and thank you to the Serra High School ROTC for making this event special for our school. A special thank you, to Ms. Davis, Mrs. Madsen, Mrs. Goncalves, and the Kindergarten class, 1st & 2nd graders for a special day of blessings, and an afternoon of fun arts & crafts. Thank you to Mrs. Madsen, Mrs. Goncalves, and the 1st & 2nd grade class for the special Thanksgiving prayer service on Thursday. Thank you to Mrs. Gonzales, and the 3rd grade parents for making their Thanksgiving Feast so special. Thank you to Mrs. Lunn, Mr. Foell, Mr. Fairchild, our 8th grade class for the delicious variety of pies, and to the parent volunteers for helping to make this junior high Feast Day a true blessing. We also, want to thank all the families who sent in food items for our Thanksgiving food drive. Many families will have a special Thanksgiving because of the kindness and generosity of St. Columba School, and last but not least, a big thank you to Danielle Simmons for providing a special lunch for all the teachers on conference days!
THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY: Monday, November 20th through Friday, November 24th, school and preschool will be closed. School and preschool will resume Monday, November 27th, with a regular day.
WASC/WCEA PARENT SURVEY: The St. Columba Faculty have been working diligently preparing for the Spring of 2019 Accreditation review by (WASC) Western Association of Schools and Colleges in partnership with the (WCEA) Western Catholic Educational Association. The main objective of this review is to ensure that our schools are always improving student learning. An important part of this review is the survey that will be sent out as an attachment in an email blast. All answers are confidential and anonymous. The deadline to complete this survey is by midnight on Monday, November 27, 2017. In order to continue improving the curriculum and overall student learning at St. Columba, it is important that each family please complete this survey.
ADVENT WREATH NIGHT: Come join us Saturday, November 25th for our Advent Wreath Making in the parish hall after the 5:30 Mass (approximately 6:30 pm). The cost is $20.00, and this includes all supplies. Wreaths will be blessed. Pizza, drinks, and dessert will be served. A special thank you once again, to Mrs. Stella Vasquez for her time and dedication in organizing this special evening for our school families.
GIFT CARDS: Keep ordering gift cards…..it’s a great time to order for family and friends. You can order online just go to wwwshopwithscrip.com and enter the school code: 5B746D45922 and follow the simple instructions. Order forms are also available in the school office. Due to the shipping cost; all orders need to be received by Friday of each week, and orders will be placed by the 15th of each month. Thank you for your support of our gift card program.
SPORTS: Thank you to all our coaches for volunteering your time, and for a great fall season. Our sports program wouldn’t happen without your help. Games are over! Please remember to turn in your jerseys to Mr. Fairchild or the school office. Reminder: permission forms for winter sports were sent home last week. The date has been extended; Last, chance to turn in your sports form, is Monday, November 27th. All forms must be received by that date. If we don’t have enough sign-ups or coaches we won’t have teams.
THE HABIT 3rd GRADE FUNDRAISER: Mark your calendar, and come join us Wednesday, November 29th from 4:00 – 9:00 pm at the Habit located at 845 Camino De La Reina San Diego. Must have flyer present when you order, and the Habit will donate 20% of the receipts to our 3rd grade fundraiser.
LOST AND FOUND: Check out our lost and found. When we return from Thanksgiving break, please stop the office, if your child is missing an article of clothing. It’s overflowing with items!
EASTERN DIVISION POLICE DEPARTMENT: On December 7th at 5:30pm, St. Columba will be hosting the 2nd Annual Basketball Game against the Eastern Division Police Department… We are looking for 15 parents who would like to join us for this friendly basketball game. Sign ups will end on Friday, November 1, 2017. If you are interested in participating, please contact Ms. Navarro at email@example.com.
